We are Finalists in the SME National Business Awards
Lorax EPI are extremely excited to announce that we have been named as finalists in two categories in the SME National Business Awards! We have been shortlisted for the Corporate Social Responsibility Award and the Sustainability award! In a year when there was a record number of award entries, even being amongst the finalists is a fantastic testament to hard work of the team. Here are some highlights as to why we have been shortlisted for the two awards.
Lorax EPI are B Corp certified.
After a long 18-month process, we received our B Corporation accreditation in August of 2022, having met strict social and environmental standards. The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business' operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.
The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency.
To maintain our B Corp certification, we must uphold our binding agreement, and produce a report based on the targets and goals we need to meet, we are proud to be a B Corp company and will continue to make sure we meet the requirements that come with the name. Aside from the work Lorax does to continue making sure companies all over the world are abiding by environmental regulations, we are committed to being a sustainable and environmentally conscious company, and as the company grow and takes on more employees, as it has done so far this year, it gives a greater capacity to have a positive impact.
Environmental Reporting
Our business helps companies who need to manage environmental reporting and to understand the legislation surrounding it. We support this on a global scale, reporting to countries such as Chile, South Africa, and Singapore. Our software, which supports the mandatory EPR reporting requirements, has been enhanced to also support companies' plastics tax, voluntary environmental goals, packaging recyclability analysis and reporting to global commitments such as the Ellen MacArthur Plastic Pact network.
The software enables companies to have transparency into their packaging and product footprint, their usage of recycled materials and be able to report this externally to organisations like the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Having this level of transparency also enables smart decision-making, which can lower their impact and help to make alternative packaging decisions, we do this for some of the largest companies in the world
Our new software modules allow companies to view a live market status of packaging recyclability and forecasted EPR fees in markets of sale. This information is a rare glimpse into a companies impact on the ground and has been a key source of growth for us over the last year.
Company Values
As a business, all our decisions are made with the environment in mind, we have recycling facilities and keep paper usage to a minimum and employees now undertake their own community/environmental initiatives, such as litter picks and food bank support.
Our core values ask our employees to support the environment and our community, love detail, and always uphold integrity. These feed into everything we do, and as a technical software company try to set a balance between our inner number nerds and the desire to create a company of purpose which supports our town and wider community.
Looking to December….
The results will be announced in December, when the SME National Business Awards 2023 ceremony takes place at Wembley Stadium in London. So, until then its fingers crossed, and we will be continuing the hard work that led to this recognition!
